Paralyzed by darkness and despair, Butlla Doulat village has been a picture of backwardness for as long as its inhabitants can remember. Recently, the villagers woke up to a new dawn when a solar charging station was setup in Butlla Doulat under the LaBL programme.

Dinesh Saxena, owner of a medical shop in the village is now able to service his customers for an 4-5 hours more than he would earlier. ‘Now, I can operate my shop and dispense medicines for emergencies at night too and I've already helped manage urgent medical requirements’ he says. Dinesh uses the solar lanterns in his medical shop freely and safely, without worrying about a fire or any other toxic hazards. The entire village has experienced improvements in livelihood opportunities, health, education and domestic chores because of an affordable and accessible solar lighting solution being made available in the village.
